Military Stryker Armored Combat Vehicle - The Stryker

The Striker LAV Is A Multi-Use, All-Purpose, Fighting Machine

Jun 1, 2008

To introduce Military Power, the newest addition to the pages of Diesel Power magazine, we have a profile of the versatile Stryker LAV (Light Armored Vehicle) that's built by General Dynamics. It has selective eight wheel drive (full-time four-wheel drive), uses a big Caterpillar 3126B turbodiesel engine to reach speeds of more than 60 mph, and can be configured for everything from eliminating enemy tanks to fighting fires. The Stryker was named in honor of two posthumous Medal of Honor recipients (who were not related to each other)-Pfc. Stuart S. Stryker, who served in World War II, and Spc. Robert F. Stryker, who served in Vietnam.
