2007 Chevy Silverado - California King
Fit For A Crown
Nothing represents Southern California more than swaying palm trees, a summer sunset at the beach, and cruising the boulevard in a double-take-pulling custom vehicle. That is as ideal as the dream gets, but not for Allen Hayes, owner of 714 Motorsports, in Westminster. The trees and sand are just fine with him, but his taste for one-off vehicles is a bit more intense than most. Well, that is if you'd consider a 12-inch lifted '07 Chevy Silverado rolling on 22s wrapped in 40-inch tires intense. Yeah, we thought so.
Components from Bulletproof Suspension, Atlas Springs, and King Shocks were selected to transform the already big Bow Tie into a street-legal tank, and the RBP 91R series wheels and Toyo Open Country M/T rubber solidify its ability to conquer and destroy. A Firestone rear airbag kit, complete with a remote air command system, was installed for when the time comes to wield any supplemental artillery from point A to B.
You may be wondering how Allen manages to hop into the truck's control center, and to be honest we thought the same when we first met up for the photo shoot. Once the doors are opened, retractable Amp Research running boards quickly swing down from underneath the cab to offer a courteous boost.
714 Motorsports handled nearly the entire build, and once the truck was up higher in the atmosphere, the crew bolted on an RBP air intake, exhaust, and programmer for a more than adequate bump in the diesel engine's aggression. Both the front and rear axle have been stuffed with 4:10 gears, capped with PML diff covers, and to help bring this mountain of machine to a dead stop, an SSBC Big Brake kit was locked into position behind the heavy rollers.
With a newfound stance and an increased horsepower count, team 714 passed the truck to Santini Paint and Body, also in Westminster, who applied the two-tone, black and red Alsa paint scheme. An ARE LSX Series tonneau cover now caps the bed, and ANZO USA halo headlights and LED tails provide luxurious lighting at both ends. RBP once again jumped on board by providing one of their highly sought after mesh grilles to push this Chevy's appeal into another class, which we can only describe as California classy.
The interior, however, did not go overlooked as the entire seating area has been sunk into suede and red stitch-accented Classic Soft Trim leather seat covers, which were actually designed by 714 Motorsports. For audio/visual pleasure, a JVC Arsenal Series KV AVX800 7-inch receiver was brought in to entertain the front passengers, while 9-inch headrest monitors keep those in the rear preoccupied. Two 10-inch JVC subwoofers, and 6 1/2-inch components keep the atmosphere lively inside the cab, while US Speedo gauges keep Allen up to date on the truck's vital signs while being wrapped up in the surrounding chaos. Suede, and lots of it, covers each pillar and the headliner.
If this truck isn't the epitome of West Coast lifted style, then we just don't what else to show you. Life is most certainly a beach when in the confines of Allen's big and bad, custom royal rig.
