Watch Your Back, Here Comes The Scythe

If he didn't move in the shadows of darkness, but rather drove to and from the graveyard, what would the Grim Reaper drive? Simple, he'd drive this sinister GMC Sierra complete with airbrushed murals of himself executing inferior trucks along the highways and byways of life.

Benjamin Franklin made life simple when, in 1789, he wrote, "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." Trey and David Brooks, of Katy, Texas, made customizing a new GMC simple when they contacted Extreme Off-Road, also in Katy, to make their Sierra a complete show-stopper. Dubbed "The Reaper" by the Brooks family, their truck was supposed to have a simple lift kit installed but quickly escalated into one of the nicest lifted trucks in the Houston area. With its sheer brute size, powerful LS3 engine, and evil airbrush work, what's not to love about this amalgam of prosperity and mortality? Not quite as eloquent as our buddy Ben said it, two things cannot be argued-taxes suck and when the Reaper calls, you will answer.
Starting with a clean but stock '08 Sierra, Trey delivered the black truck to the pros at Extreme Off-Road, where with just a few whistles of the air tools, the GMC was lifted 15 inches higher courtesy of a Bulletproof Suspensions' kit and 3-inch body lift. Fox Racing coilovers dampen the front end while Fox Shox help out the Atlas leaf springs in the rear. Extreme paid close attention to the details by powdercoating the lift kit components blue, painting the frame gloss black, and powdercoating the rear axle to match. Before bolting the new wheels and tires on, a Baer Extreme big brake kit was installed and helps slow the inertia created by the 40-inch Toyo M/T tires and 22-inch XD Monster wheels. Moving into the interior, simple and functional was the theme followed here.
Several dash plastics were painted blue and the Brooks' duo built a custom center console housing a JL Audio 10w3 sub. Under the Reaper's rear seats, two JL Audio 13.5TW5 subs pound passengers into submission. If the angels had Gabriel and his trumpet, this Reaper has bass booming for an advanced warning of its impending doom. Each door is home to Focal components and every speaker is powered by JL Audio HD amps. A Kenwood head unit handles the audio selection, while an Audio Control EQ fine-tunes each frequency. David and Trey worked together on the Roadwire black leather and blue suede seats and the new look is custom, yet useable.
As the owners of the fastest and quickest LSX-equipped 5th-gen Camaro, the Brooks' family had a brand-new 6.2L LS3 in the garage and it didn't take long to get LMR Engines, in Houston, to strip the LS3 down and install its "Reaper" package, hence the Sierra's name. Now powering the GMC, the LS3 features an aggressive cam, CNC-ported aluminum heads, long-tube headers, and an MSD ignition. Providing an impressive 600 hp, David and Trey are likely a once-seen, once-missed blur around town with the 40-inch tires breaking traction with a tap of the throttle. Happy with the GMC's chest-thumping roar but knowing what it could be, they met up with Chuck Coupland for something fitting of a hearse with a bed.
Chuck is the main man behind Coupland Signs, in La Porte, Texas, and specializes in signs, but he's also an accomplished airbrush artist. With the "Reaper" engine package in place, Chuck was certain he could apply a menacing grim reaper design engulfed in blue real-fire to the truck that would have people politely getting out the Sierra's way. Using House of Kolor Kandy Blue, the artwork is phenomenal and very realistic. Proudly etched in the Grim Reaper's scythe, the GMC logo seams to have easily slain a big horn on the passenger side and a Blue Oval wasn't any luckier on the driver side. Skulls and tiny skeletons crawling on the Grim Reaper's bones like kids at recess are also present on the Sierra's sheetmetal. Other exterior mods included an RBP mesh grille, ANZO USA headlights, HID lights, and smoked Recon LED taillghts out back.
If any truck needed its own theme song, The Reaper should arrive to Metallica's "Enter Sandman" blaring and watch as the seemingly innocent run to their pillows at night.
