Textron Marine and Land Systems produced the Maintenance Armored Security Vehicle (ASV) in response to a request from the government of Iraq. The Council of Ministers wanted an armored support and recovery vehicle capable of salvaging damaged equipment in a war zone. The Maintenance ASV is based on the M1117, which entered production in 1999 and has served with the United States Army in Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, and Kosovo. This vehicle can flat-tow 36,000 pounds, and with its stabilizing bars, deploying spade, and boom, can lift 10,000 pounds-even in off-road situations.
