The Trucks of Truckin' Readers

To get your truck featured in Readers' Rides, email a high-resolution photo of your truck to Send in a front 3/4 or profile shot of your truck, and make sure it's big enough. For a digital file, try to make it at least 1MB. Don't use your cell phone! We print at a much higher resolution than a website, which means that sending links to photos posted online won't work. Also, please make sure that the whole truck is in the frame, don't cutoff the front or back of the truck. Remember, this is your pride and joy. Do your best to make your truck look it's best. Also, make sure to include plenty of information about you and your truck. The more information, the better the article. If you want to get your ride noticed by posting it on our website, go to Upload up to 20 photos of your vehicle, along with detailed descriptions.
Canadian Custom
A loyal Canadian reader has sent us pictures of his '98 Chevy Silverado. Shawn Thompson bought this truck bone stock. Well it is anything but that now. It has a Phantom grille, HID headlights, and a stainless Bow Tie up front. The body includes custom hood and bumpers, fender flares, shaved tailgate, and tonneau cover. For more horsepower, Shawn used a K&N intake, throttle-body spacer, Hedman headers, and a mandrel-bent exhaust with stainless Bow Tie tips. It also has a torsion bar leveling kit and airbags for a smooth ride. The rolling stock has been upgraded to MB Motoring wheels inside of Mickey Thompson Baja Claw MTZs. Shawn, thank you for ridding the world of a stock truck.

Sgt. Page's Project Ram
Sgt. William Page is the owner of this cool 2005 Dodge Ram 4x4. With the Hemi and a cool-air intake, it's got enough power to have some fun and get into trouble. He is currently stationed in Afghanistan, but when he returns he wants to throw on a set of long-tube Pacesetter Headers, a MagnaFlow true dual exhaust, and an Airaid throttle-body spacer on the engine. For the exterior, he wants a shaker ram-air hood, an SRT-10 front bumper, and SRT-10 22-inch wheels wrapped in Nitto NT420S tires. For an updated stance, Sgt. Page plans on putting on a Ground Force 2/4 lowering kit, and for better visibility he wants a set of halo headlights and LED taillights. William, thank you for serving in the military and thank you for reading Truckin'. Send us updated pictures when your Ram is complete.

The Sky's the Limit
Freeport, Florida, is home to James Taylor and his '97 Chevy Z-71. This monster has 9 inches of suspension lift and 3 inches of body lift. Weld Racing Scorpio V wheels and 391/2-inch Super Swamper tires get the truck even higher above the state of Florida. To draw some horsepower from the factory engine, James added a K&N cold-air intake, MagnaFlow exhaust, and a Superchips programmer. Paint-matched valance and mirrors, a Keystone cowl hood, Recon LED taillights, Bushwhacker flares, a Truxedo tonneau, and a billet grille with chrome Bow Tie make the truck look nice when it is not drenched in mud. The interior features three video screens, an Alpine in-dash DVD player, two 12-inch Rockford T2 subs, four sets of Rockford components, and a Rockford 600x4 amp. Wow, that's a lot, and we are glad that James sent in pictures of his truck.

Love Story
This '97 Chevy S-10 belongs to Abdel Alli of Atlanta, Georgia. He has spent many hours and lots of money customizing just about every inch of this truck. He has modified the 2.2L engine to include a K&N intake, a Powermaster alternator, Mallory fuel pump, Accel wires and plugs, an Optima RedTop, and a Borla exhaust. To make the exterior pop, Abdel added a grille guard, a custom grille insert with four PIAA lights, APC polished-aluminum diamond-plate mudguards, and painted the exterior school bus yellow with black graphics and black racing stripes. He powdercoated the factory rims and wrapped them in Kumho rubber. The A/V system is a masterpiece in-of-itself. A Sony head unit is attached to Kicker mids and highs, Kicker amps, and a 12-inch Kicker sub. There are four screens in total, one on the passenger dash, two in the sunvisors, and one in the bed. Also in the bed is a retro hot dog roller and a retro popcorn maker.

White Hot Ram
Greg Lucas of Springfield, Illinois, should be proud of what he has done so far to his '07 Dodge Ram. Even though he is nowhere near done, he has done a heck of a lot of work to it. To the 5.7L Hemi, he has added a K&N performance air filter, a custom dual exhaust, and a Superchips programmer. For more capability, Greg had a 6-inch BDS lift kit installed, as well as 35-inch Nitto Dune Grappler tires on 18-inch Eagle alloys. A Putco flame series grille and matching Putco flame series door handles add a touch of heat to this Ram. The undercarriage and interior are covered in blue LEDs to set the mood, and an Alpine head unit with a Memphis Audio amp and Memphis Audio speakers blast the beats. Other modifications include a Knight Rider rear LED light bar, a Viper car alarm, white LED flashing emergency lights, a navigation unit, and a backup camera system. Some of the future plans include a 3-inch body lift, customizing the interior, and adding a custom console with two additional 12-inch subs and an amp, performance upgrades, and custom paint.

Beginner's Luck
18-year-old Zain Malik owns this 2004 Toyota Tundra. Zain has added a T-Rex billet grille, matching billet bumper insert, clear corner lenses, Xantec HIDs, air horns, 22-inch U2-55s with Kumho Ecsta 275/45R22 tires and a Fire and Ice LED bar on the outside. For the tunes, he added a Jensen 7-inch touchscreen head unit and HD Audio 6.5-inch door speakers. The engine features a Spectre cold-air intake and a custom straight pipe exhaust so everyone will hear him coming. Painted calipers and drums and custom tint finish off this sweet truck. Zain definitely has custom-truck blood flowing through his veins.

Big Red
Another loyal Canadian reader has sent us pictures of his truck. Phil Hartmann of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, calls this '07 Ford F-150 FX2 Sport his own. With a 5.4L V-8 boosted by a Roush supercharger and intercooler, this truck has a lot of go. Roush was also used for the suspension kit to get it low. A Clarion in-dash DVD player and JL Audio speakers provide the beats, and 24-inch Eagle Alloys keep it rolling. A wiper cowl, billet grille, projector headlights, and painted accents finish off the exterior and make this truck look super clean.

To Drop or Not To Drop
Ray Rodriguez of Jourdanton, Texas, sent us pictures of his '87 Dodge D150. This is definitely a rare truck and we love it. After arguing with a friend of his about what they should do with it, they decided that being slammed to the deck and tucking big wheels would be awesome. After cutting up the frame, they threw a set of 22s on and gave it a nice and simple paintjob. After taking it to a couple of shows and getting a ton of compliments, they decided to send it to us and we are glad that they did. Did we mention that they got this truck for free? Thanks guys!
