2004 Ford F350 - Good From Bad
After Wrecking His 1/2-Ton Truck, Chris Hoffman Bought An HD
After totaling his '99 Ford F-150 in 2004, Chris Hoffman took the insurance money (and a lot more) and purchased an '04 Ford F-350 6.0L Power Stroke. The 31-year-old from Springville, New York, has done a lot of work to his truck in the years since.
For performance mods, it has an SCT with custom tunes from Innovative Diesel and River City Diesel along with a tuned FICM from Innovative Diesel. The exhaust is a 4-inch going into a 6-inch MBRP exhaust stack, and the intake is taken care of with an AFE Stage II-teamed with a Spearco intercooler, CFM Plus LargeMouth intake elbow, and Snow Performance water injection with a 7-gallon tank mounted to a custom fifth-wheel plate Chris made to bolt to his fifth-wheel rails in the bed.
Ensuring the system stays together are ARP head studs and Hypermax fire-ringed heads. The EGR system was deleted and the Y-pipe was wrapped with header wrap. Chris also added 190cc injectors from Ryan Casserly at Full Force Diesel, a 64/71/70 turbo with a polished compressor housing, a Sun Coast transmission, and an Amsoil oil bypass system.
Wheels are 18x9 Moto Metals wrapped with 33x12.5x18 Mickey Thompson Baja ATZs.
Most recently, a set of Flex-a-lite 7.3L electric fans was retrofitted on the truck to free up more horsepower. An Edge Insight and Auto Meter gauges monitor everything. A Detroit Locker in the rear keeps the power on the ground and a Mag-Hytec cover protects the contents of the differential.
To make the truck drive nicer, Chris installed a Rancho steering stabilizer kit. To update the looks a bit, he added an '07 grille with a billet insert. Another nod to looks was the woodgrain dash kit that Chris put in the interior.
