Featured Trucks of Truckin' Readers
To get your truck featured in Readers' Rides, email a high-resolution photo of your truck to Maxwell.Matthewson@sorc.com. Send in a front 3⁄4 or profile shot of your truck, and make sure it's big enough. For a digital file, try to make it at least 1MB. Don't use your cell phone! We print at a much higher resolution than a website, which means that sending links to photos posted online won't work. Also, please make sure that the whole truck is in the frame, don't cutoff the front or back of the truck. Remember, this is your pride and joy. Do your best to make your truck look it's best. Also, make sure to include plenty of information about you and your truck. The more information, the better the article. If you want to get your ride noticed by posting it on our website, go to http://rides.truckinweb.com. Upload up to 20 photos of your vehicle, along with detailed descriptions.
Robert Tucker's girlfriend, Tara, sent us these photos of his 2007 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner with the hope that we'd publish the photo as an anniversary present. We're glad she sent them in, because this Taco is pretty darn cool. With a TRD supercharger adding a bunch of extra pop, this truck is fast as well as good-looking. Twenty-two-inch wheels, a shaved tailgate, and a bunch of other goodies provide the Yota with a custom look. If you're lucky, you can catch Robert and Tara speeding around Houston, Texas.
Kyle Coker from Missouri owns this 2003 Chevy Silverado. Wanting a sportier look from his Bow Tie, Kyle swapped out the factory bumper for an SS copy and added a 3-4 drop kit. A cowl-induction hood gives Kyle's truck a mean look while increasing airflow into the engine bay. Final touches on the outside include a shaved tailgate, Street Scene sport mirrors, LED third brake light, roll pan out back, and HIDs in the headlights. Between the doors, all of the seats have been wrapped in RST leather. Many of the interior plastics have been removed and hydro-dipped to look like carbon fiber. U.S. Speedo gauges give Kyle something nice to look at while cruising the streets in his badass daily driver.
Steven Dixon can be found cruising New Jersey in his 2006 Ford F-250. So far, he has upgraded the 6.0L engine with a new Garrett turbo, Air Dog fuel pump, Cobalt pyrometer, and fuel pressure gauge. To get more air into the engine, Steve installed a Banks High Ram intake elbow with boost tube, Banks intake, and MBRP exhaust with a cat delete and muffler delete. For even more power from the Power Stroke, Steve had it tuned, helping it create 450 rwhp. All of this power turn the massive 35-inch Dunlop Rover M/T tires on the Mickey Thompson 17x10-inch wheels. To get these to fit under the Super Duty, Steve installed a 6-inch Skyjacker lift. Inside, a Pioneer head unit controls the audio in the cab and MTX speakers pump out the beats.
Chevy Silverados have been known to handle some pretty extreme conditions, but Ken Johnson's 2009 Bow Tie is the real deal. Ken lives in Swift Current, Sask, Alaska, and as you can tell from the photos, the weather can be extremely severe. To make his Silvy even better, Ken installed a 2-inch leveling kit and 285/65R18 Toyo Open Country tires on 18x9-inch KMC XD Rockstar wheels. A K&N intake helps bring the freezing cold outside air into the engine while a Magnaflow exhaust expels the burnt gasses. Other performance modifications include a Jet Performance MAF sensor and Airaid throttle-body spacer. Ken's future plans include a full lift kit, bigger tires, audio upgrade, ram-air hood, blacked-out grille, and retractable tonneau cover.
When Chris Greer, from Columbia, Maryland, bought this 2005 Ford F-150 STX 4x4, he knew he wanted to make it stand out from the other F-150s on the road. To do this, he has added Top Gun Customs leveling kit, 17-inch KMC XD Spy wheels wrapped in 33-inch Nitto Terra Grappler rubber. A Scoo skull and flame grille and taillights further set this Blue Oval apart from its counterparts. Plenty more stainless exterior pieces add shimmer while a Suncoast Performance ram air hood helps bring fresh air into the engine compartment. Receiving that fresh air is the K&N intake equipped 4.6L that was given more power with a Jet Performance tune, Accel coils, and a Gibson exhaust. For the interior, Chris painted the door panels black and red and will soon be painting the dash to match. A sound system helps Chris enjoy his tunes while going from A to B.
The new body style Silverado is a very popular vehicle for customizers. This version belongs to Colby Vicknair, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The first thing he did was shave the tailgate with a Grant Customs skin and install a Grant Kustoms roll pan. For a better stance, a DJM 4/7-inch drop was installed with 24-inch Dub Bombers with paint-matched spokes. LED taillights and LED third brake light, and paint matched front bumper and grille with billet inserts finishes off the exterior. Not wanting a stock interior, Colby paint matched several plastic pieces, and installed a killer audio system.
