A few of you may know this Toyota not by its current appearance but from the way it appeared on our pages in 2004. It had a two-tone charcoal gray and silver paint scheme broken up by a tame flame design, and although it looked just as clean then as it does today, this Tacoma's present-day condition looks to have the upper hand.

Owner Howard Cline admits the toughest part of attaining a brand-new look for his truck was making it unrecognizable to the eyes who knew it well from its previous days on the show circuit. The worn-out suspension system was debugged and reworked, the tired interior was refreshed, and the old paint was blasted off the Tacoma's surface. It was slowly turning into a completely different truck.
Now, Howard expressed to us that he will never again purchase a previously built vehicle from anyone, but he successfully built this truck around his own ideas and standards. And even though the Tacoma was built to impress before, the elements of style seem to have matured with its reincarnation. From color-matched billet wheels to subtle ghost graphics, this Toyota is on another level than before.

There's always room for improvement with anything in life. It's all a matter of peeling your ass from off the couch, creating a plan, and executing that plan. Even the best has room to be better.
