Brian Mitchell is a full-blown custom truck nut. Living in Central California, where the custom car and truck industry is booming, Brian gets plenty of ideas for his numerous builds. Brian picked up the brand-new, bone-stock HD in early 2008. Not one to leave well enough alone, Brian wanted to put bigger tires on the truck since it was a 4x4. He installed a simple 7-inch Full Throttle lift kit, and was content—for a short moment.

All of that changed when his Chevy was in an accident. His truck was parked in front of Brian's shop, Liquid Trends in Modesto, California, when a boat came unhitched from its tow rig, barreled through the parking lot and plowed into the HD. That must have been an interesting talk with the insurance company, Yeah, that's right, I said a boat. No, the truck was parked miles from any water." After fixing the damage to the bed and cab, the interior was in pieces. The decision was then made to take the build to the next level. He started by wrapping the seats in leather, swapping out the carpet, and covering the headliner in suede. Brian also painted several interior plastics for added appeal.
Since the body had been repaired, the HD was in need of new paint, enter Heritage Ford Body and Paint, in Modesto, California. While in their hands, the tailgate handle was shaved and Buick-esque port holes were cut into the hood, and backed with mesh. Heritage Ford Body and Paint in Modesto, California, shaved the door handles and cut Buick-esque port holes in the hood, backed with custom mesh. They then painted the top half of the truck in Subaru WRX blue, and the bottom in factory Chevrolet pewter. To cover the hard line where the colors met, Hector Carranza with Corbett Graphics, also in Modesto, came in and painted a gray industrial-style graphic down the body and onto the tailgate.

After coming this far, Brian decided to take the truck to Las Vegas for the fabled SEMA show, but before rolling it into Sin City, he upgraded the audio system and bolted on some go-fast goodies to the Duramax turbo diesel. Pulling on the Escalade door handles opens up the door and drops down the Amp Research steps. Inside the Crew Cab are even more custom touches. In the dash, a Pioneer touchscreen head unit provides the source for all of the tunes. Brian did something different than just mounting the Arc Audio amps under the seat, he had holes cut into the case and filled with the same mesh as the exterior of the truck and mounted them in the back of the front seats. The amps feed a quartet of Arc Audio 6½-inch separates in the doors and four 8-inch Arc subs under the rear seats. Between the two pairs of subs is the fuel for the CryO2 system that injects liquid oxygen into the intake to cool the air/fuel mixture. After finishing the audio, Brian equated the interior to that of a high-end home theater with the killer audio and supple leather. With enough performance mods to get the 20-inch wheels and 33-inch tires rolling, Brian made his way to the Vegas Strip.

Now that the truck is finished, Brian loves driving it every day and showing it off at as many shows as possible. Brian wanted to thank all the shops that helped build the truck, especially Liquid Trends, Heritage Ford Body Shop, and TCS Suspension, all the sponsors on the truck, and his friends for helping him with the build.
"Hard work, dedication, and lots of friends pays off!"
