Graduating high school is a momentous occasion for most people, but probably not as much as it was for Juan Valdivia of Sullivan, Texas. Quizzy, as he is known in his club, Ground Zero, was the first person in his family to graduate from high school. His parents were so proud of him that they bought him a brand-new 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic. Quizzy kept the truck stock early on but after a short while and several issues of Truckin magazine later, the custom bug struck and Quizzy realized his regular cab was in need of some upgrades.
The first thing Quizzy did was drive the truck to the Drop Shop in Palmview, Texas. To begin the customization, the guys at the Drop Shop removed the factory suspension components in order to have a clean slate to build onto. The grand total of the custom drop is a massive 8/12-drop. Now Quizzy has an airbag-looking truck without the hassle of airbags, compressors, and switches. Belltech Street Performance shocks work to reduce bumps from the road, but with such a radical static drop, care has to be taken at all costs to avoid anything bigger than a pebble on the road. Quizzy capped off the suspension with a set of 24x8½-inch and 24x10-inch Intro Flow wheels wrapped in 265/30R24 and 295/30R24 Toyo Proxes STII rubber.

Wanting an SS look from his truck, Quizzy sought out the help of Extreme Body Shop, also in Palmview. The front clip was replaced with an SS version and a 2010 Silverado HD hood was modified to fit. The tailgate handle was shaved and the wing from an Intimidator SS was modified and affixed to the top of the tailgate. With everything just how Quizzy wanted it, the truck was sanded, blocked, and primered in preparation for several coats of PPG Victory Red paint. With the paint dry, Edgar Solis from Airbrush Graphics in Donna, Texas, came in and pinstriped the hood and tailgate. Finally, the paint and pinstriping were sealed in with a few coats of clear.
In order for the full SS experience, Quizzy had Ignite Motorsports, in Palmview, upgrade the factory 5.3L V-8 with a Nitrous Works kit. For better intake and exhaust flow, a K&N intake, Pace Setter headers, and a Borla exhaust were bolted on. A new crankshaft pulley and retune of the computer helped the 5.3L handle the extra power. The transmission also received an upgrade via new clutches and Corvette servos.

Quizzy wanted his interior to be just as outstanding as the rest of the truck, so he took it to Kustom Kingz Customs in Mission, Texas. While in the hands of Kustom Kingz, the interior was completely gutted. Seats out of an SS were cut down and wrapped in Katzkin red leather and black perforated leather with red underneath. Grey carpet was laid down and dark grey suede adorns the headliner, along with a Webasto sunroof. The center console from an Escalade was modified to fill the void between the seats and was also wrapped in red and black leather. Several plastic pieces were painted red including the dash bezel, door lock covers, A/C vent bezels, driver and passenger airbag covers, and the center console. Looking through the perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel gives Quizzy a perfect view of the SS cluster that he installed. The back of the cab is also wrapped in dark grey suede and a custom box was made to house a pair of 10-inch DB Drive K7 subwoofers. These are driven by a Pioneer touchscreen head unit that sends its signal to two DB Drive amplifiers that in turn provide the juice for the two subwoofers and the speakers in the doors and B-pillars.
Going from graduation present to full-fledged show truck, Quizzy couldn't be happier. After attending ten shows with his truck, Quizzy has eight awards to show for his efforts. He wanted to send a big thanks to Extreme Body Shop, Super Buy Tires, Peñas Bedliner, Drop Shop, Kustom Kings Customs, and most of all his family for buying him the truck and supporting him the whole way.
"When asked what the worst mods to his truck were, Quizzy said with a grin, 'The ones I didn't make.'"
