2006 Dodge Ram 3500 - Hellhound
This One’s a Keeper
Remy Kreft lives in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, and he likes off-roading and camping in the mountains. Plus, he works in the Canadian north in the oil patches—and that requires a lot of driving on backroads. It just seemed natural that Remy would want a lifted truck to handle the workweek and the weekend of fun towing toys and a camper to the lake. But he also wanted to look good doing it.
So he spent about five years working on his ’06 Dodge Ram 3500 to transform it into what he thought was the perfect truck. He knew this Dodge was the last of the 5.9L Cummins engines, so he figured he’d better build a truck that would last him a long time.
The lift starts with a BDS 6-inch kit (which includes BDS shocks) and continues with 18-inch wheels and 37-inch Dunlop Maxx Traction mud-terrain tires.
A Fab Fours bumper with a Warn 16,500 winch contributes to the functionality of the truck while the all-over airbrush talents of Mike O’Brien pretty the thing up immensely.
The Quad Cab truck has a shortbox and uses a 5-inch MBRP turbo-back exhaust. A Smarty pod and TST PowerMax CR boost the horsepower and torque to comfortable levels. A BD Boost Fooler helps create power, too. With increased horsepower and torque comes the necessity of a beefed-up transmission, so Remy went with the BD Power Heavy Hauler, a billet input shaft, and the addition of a BD triple-disc torque converter.
The differentials are covered with Mag-Hytec diff covers not only for their good looks but also for their increased lube capacity and cooling ribs.
