Oh, the Dodge D50. It’s the domestic cousin of the Mitsubishi, but today the D50 is often found at bargain basement prices compared to the Mighty Max. Why? Maybe it’s the Dodge stigma, possibly it’s the fact that people didn’t buy the Dodge in the first place so it’s hard to find them around. Either way, it takes a unique individual to build a D50.
This was a quickie build in the sense that there’s not a whole ton to the truck. No shaved door handles, sheet metal bed, or mammoth bodydrop. Scotti was just shooting for a truck that was clean and simple—you know, something he could drive daily. That meant that he wanted to keep the legal stuff legal, the door handles stock, and the stance solidly setting the frame on the ground. Granted, the paint and interior work aren’t exactly simple, but still, you get the point.
The truck is laid out on 18-inch Nissan Titan wheels painted black, which tucks pretty nicely up front and yet still allows for easy drivability while rolling down the coast. The paint is just a few different shades of green pulled out of various manufacturers’ stock, but the candy finish over the entire thing gives it a sparkle and shine that sets it off. The interior is fancy too, with white vinyl and suede decorating the cabin. It even sports custom floor mats that match the rest of the interior—a custom touch most people don’t do.
Even though the truck was built relatively quick, this is only phase one. Scotti has lots in the works for this truck, including a 4G63 turbo Eclipse motor swap and a full stereo setup. In fact, he thinks this is just his first feature in Mini Truckin’, with many more to come. What do we think? Keep building cool trucks, and we’ll keep shooting them.
