Young men living and dying by gunfire isnt a romanticized script from some Hollywood gangster movie when we talk about our impressive men and women in the military. For Army Sgt. Chris Stafford of Angie, Louisiana, the mobster theme of his 97 GMC is synonymous with the ups and downs of his everyday life. A custom truck enthusiast since high school, Chris made the selfless decision to defend our country at any cost. To give him an escape from military life and to bond with his Severed Ties truck club brothers, he picked up a 97 Sierra Stepside and got to work making it his own.
Up front, LA Dave used 2-inch DJM drop spindles, Firestone 2600'bags, and Ride Tech shocks to slam the front, while Ekstensive installed a two-link with a Panhard bar and Firestone airbags to bring the rear down. Classic 20-inch Coys C-5 wheels wrapped in Nitto NT-555 low-pro tires, provide the perfect look to Chris' Sierra. Driving it while working on it, Chris learned to do paint and bodywork, and with the help of Jeremy Pounds at Mo's Paint & Body, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, the GMC received a complete Cadillac Escalade front clip swap. They also shaved the tailgate handle, stake pockets, and added a sectioned '99 Chevy rear bumper. DuPont Jet Black provides the base color for the blue and white hot rod-styled pinstriping.

Inside the regular cab, LB Upholstery in Wilmer, Louisiana, modified the stock bench seat and wrapped it in black Ultraleather and blue suede. The dash was smoothed and painted while plenty of billet accessories, including a Colorado Customs Severed Ties steering wheel, provide instant custom appeal. Look closely, and you'll see the gun rack in the back window complete with pinstriped Tommy gun. Who needs an alarm when you have a machine gun in the back window? Alpine audio components keep Chris' favorite tunes nice and loud. The 4.3L V-6 was helped out by way of a cool-air intake, Magnaflow exhaust, and some pinstriping for show points.

We'd like to thank Chris for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to fighting for our freedom. Stay safe and God bless.
