2004 Chevrolet Silverado - Wasted

This Tahoe-Clipped Chevy Rolls Low in the Sunshine State

Patrick McCarthyJul 12, 2013
If you've ever built a custom truck, you'll know that no matter what style you choose, haters are everywhere. It seems like some people live to rain on your parade, constantly criticizing and complaining that your build is "a waste of a good truck." After hearing this statement countless times, Michael Hathaway of Pensacola, Florida, chose to embrace the hate and call his truck Wasted. Instead of getting defensive, he got to work and molded his 2004 Silverado into something unique.
First on the chopping block was the factory suspension. After tearing out the Chevy's old springs and shocks, Mike bolted up Ride Tech airbags and QA1 shocks, as well as Belltech spindles in front and a Ride Tech four-link out back. The truck also received a new Moser 9-inch axle for strength and durability. To add a little flash and bring the truck to a quick halt, Mike installed 14-inch Baer Alumasport front big brakes and Wilwood rear disc brakes. Chrome 24-inch Joe Martin wheels bring it all together. With this setup, the Silverado cruises mere inches off the pavement and lays out at shows.
The next step was bodywork, and Mike started off by dropping the body three inches. To bring the '04 truck into modern times, a 2010 Tahoe front clip was installed and blended into the original sheetmetal. Before the truck could be prepped for paint, a few final touches were wrapped up, such as shaved door handles and a Frenched-in antenna. Currently, the truck sports a coat of matte gray primer, but Mike plans to spray it in white with bright yellow flames in the near future.
No matter what the haters may say about his 'bagged truck, Mike is pleased with how it's coming along. This clean and simple Silverado is rolling proof that it's always best to ignore the critics and build your truck your way. For encouraging him to follow his own path, Mike would like to thank his wife Becky, JJ Carnely, George Cabico, Sal's Muffler and Brakes, Marcus at MT Designs, Ronnie Watson and all his Acrophobia family.
