When Will Perla of Irving, Texas, drove his 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 home from the dealer, he had no idea what it would eventually turn into. Fast-forward several years later and it's about half way to being a ridiculous 'bagged showstopper.
As soon as Will decided to turn his work truck into a show truck, he wanted the craftsmanship to be topnotch. This required finding a shop that could do the work right. Will turned to Art Busche Designs, also in Irving. Known for building some killer trucks, Will trusted Art with his Ram. The first item on the agenda was the suspension. Art started by boxing the frame. He then raised the upper and lower control arm mounts to eliminate negative camber when the truck is aired out. A set of McGaughys drop spindles was then sandwiched between the control arms. For the air suspension side of things, Dominator 'bags were plumbed to ½-inch SMC valves.
Art had big plans for the rear suspension, which started with a four-link with a Watt's link keeping everything lined up. Inside of the link bars, Art fabricated an insane bridge with the air tank incorporated into it. Another set of Dominator airbags finish off the rear. Just behind the rearend, Art installed a 22-gallon fuel cell to feed the 5.7L Hemi under the hood. After completing the suspension, Will had to select wheels for his truck. He opted for a set of 24-inch Incubus Nemesis wheels and wrapped them in 305/35R24 Kumho tires.
Obviously the body is yet to be completed. It will receive a 2009-2012 front clip conversion. The whole body will then be shaved and sprayed with PPG Chili Pepper Red paint. A graphic will be painted along the side consisting of skulls tearing through the red paint. The interior will feature leather seats, painted plastics, and a killer system. You won't want to miss the debut of this sinister Ram, so check back in a future issue for the full feature.
This is how the truck will eventually look when all the work is complete. Be on the lookout for the full feature right here in Truckin magazine.
