2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD - Bug-Out Build
Getting Ready for When Things Hit the Fan
As you can see, a front to back application of Line-X industrial liner has been applied to this '03 2500HD to get it one step closer to being the ideal bug-out truck. The term "bug-out" refers to leaving a chaotic area during chaotic circumstances and getting out of Dodge in a hurry. Scratches? No longer a problem. Daily applications of harsh elements? We laugh at them. In general, we wanted the ideal bug-out truck for the impending political or zombie apocalypse. Whichever comes first is of no consequence. We've been dragging around an ex-CHP (California Highway Patrol) truck for some time and after coating it in the protective shell, we wanted to give it a mean stance with better ground clearance. Before you cry foul about it being a two-wheel drive, there are millions of these trucks on the road, and we wanted to show you how to make one of these rigs more capable.
Too much height would be detrimental to the plan, so we chose a 6-inch suspension system from BDS Suspension. BDS Suspension offers a huge range of accessories and highly customizable suspension lift kits for Chevy, GMC, Dodge, Ford, Hummer, Jeep, and many more trucks and SUVs. What does this mean to you? Simply put, you get the confidence of knowing your lift kit is precisely tailored to your vehicle and application, with a system engineered and manufactured proudly in America featuring a no-fine-print lifetime warranty. To match the altitude adjustment, 20x10-inch Black Rhino Armour off-road wheels were paired with 35x12.50R20LT Hankook DynaPro MT tires for rugged performance and good looks. After all, a good balance of both is vital to surviving an apocalypse when exiting paved roads and blazing your own path off-highway. Check out the install to see how you can lift your truck for better looks, more off-road capability, and hitting-the-fan preparedness.
Thanks to a 6-inch BDS lift, killer Black Rhino Armour wheels, and gnarly mud-terrain Hankook DynaPro tires, the Chevy HD was looking the part of a proper bug-out truck.
