This Daily Driven Silverado is Covered in Intricate Flames

While there’s nothing wrong with building a truck specifically for shows or driving on weekends, it’s a whole different ball game to build a daily-driven show truck. Things that might not bother you when only driving the truck occasionally suddenly become huge annoyances, and it’s tough to find the balance between practicality and custom appeal. Tony Gomez of Ivanhoe, California, tells us he wanted to build “the nicest daily driver in CenCal,” so these difficulties quickly became relevant to him. Nevertheless, he pushed onward, and built something we’d say is worthy of the title of CenCal’s best daily-driven truck.
The process began with a humble ’07 Crew Cab Silverado, which Tony quickly brought to his friend Chris Lacy in Visalia, California. Chris stripped the truck down to its frame, which he boxed, C-notched, and painted gloss black in preparation for a new air suspension. Slam Specialties RE-7 ’bags were added to the chassis, as well as Belltech spindles in front and an AVS parallel four-link out back. Kuts R Us, in Porterville, California, fabricated a custom 20-gallon fuel cell, and the Chevy’s axle was narrowed eight inches in preparation for deep-dish rear wheels. The suspension upgrades were topped off by a set of 24-inch Intro Twisted Vista wheels, which would fit the truck’s hot rod styling to a T.

Tony was pleased with the stance, but he wanted the body to touch the asphalt without a sliver of light in between. So, back at Kuts R Us, the Silverado was body-dropped 5½ inches, and the fenders were sectioned to thoroughly tuck the billet 24s. The bed was also relocated forward three-fourths of an inch, eliminating the unsightly gap behind the cab. A litany of other body mods was performed, ranging from fully shaved body panels to a new sheetmetal bed floor. The Chevy then received its eye-popping custom paint at Teo’s Customs in Tulare, California. First, several coats of House of Kolor Jet Black were sprayed before the pièce de résistance was added: Lime Gold Kandy traditional flames that stretch from grille to taillights. Additional blue and yellow pinstriping around the flames, on the tailgate, and inside the cab jump off the Jet Black backdrop.
With the exterior of the truck handled, Tony focused on creating a custom look for the interior. Santo’s Upholstery, in Visalia, California, wrapped the seats in soft-touch black leather with yellow stitching. Aftermath logos embroidered into the seat backs show Tony’s club affiliation, and smoothed and painted dash and door panels bring in the exterior’s clean style. After bolting up an Intro billet steering wheel, Tony upgraded the sound system with a 7.5-inch Farenheit head unit, Farenheit speakers, Hifonics amps, and dual Rockford Fosgate 10-inch subwoofers.
Daily driving around the Central Valley in his newly completed truck, Tony couldn’t be happier. This flame-painted shocking Silverado always draws a crowd at shows, even alongside other custom vehicles, so you can imagine what kind of attention it attracts on public streets.
