It’s Good to be the Boss
Bill Baltikas might not be a household name in the custom truck scene. His club, Balistik, is quickly climbing the ranks of name recognition, but it’s the show put on every year that precedes them both. Camp ’N Drag has evolved into a fan favorite amongst Midwest truck run die-hards, and it’s become the place to debut in the region -- even for the guy throwing the show.
"I’ve come to realize the importance of being yourself and doing what you like. - Bill Baltikas"
“I’ve been into trucks for about 13 years now. I started going to Indy Truck Bash with friends, and throughout that time, I’ve seen styles and ideas change but I’ve come to realize the importance of being yourself and doing what you like,” Bill says about the 12 years he’s spent piecing his own truck together. In that time, he’s had the opportunity to connect with likeminded people and travel to see how others have put their spin on building trucks. “My budget has only allowed me to buy a few parts here and there when I had spare cash to spend, and my motivation has always come from watching others push the bar and do things different.”
Being president of an up-and-coming truck club doesn’t come with the perk of being the first in the group to have a completed ride. Even though many members and outside friends were there to help push Bill closer to finishing his build, he was there to lend a hand to those in the club who were in the position of making their own progress sooner. When one wins, all in the same circle have something to celebrate.
