While other high school kids were daydreaming about going to the mall or attending great parties, Diego Armando Leon of Houston was daydreaming about trucks, Chevy trucks to be exact. All the older guys were cruising in their trucks and Diego immediately gravitated toward that scene. He promised himself that for a graduation present he would be cruising right next to those guys in a truck even better than theirs.
In 2008 Diego finally graduated high school, and true to his word, he went down to the Chevy dealership and picked out a brand-new ’08 Chevy Silverado. Within months he started creating a drawing board on how he was going to customize his new Chevy. His first modification was to bring the Silverado lower to the ground. He brought his new truck to All Star Customs in Alvin, Texas, where Anthony Wilfong got down to business adding a full air suspension system that included a rear ladder bar setup with a wishbone. Dual Viair 444c compressors were added to ensure there was always enough air to bring her up and drop her down. A sheetmetal bed was fabricated for smooth lines and sleek looks.

Diego ordered a set of Intro Dangerous 26x9 front wheels and 26x12 wheels for the rear with an 8-inch lip wrapped in Pirelli rubber. While the rims were on the way, Anthony tubbed the front fenders and cut the firewall to accommodate the larger wheels. Since the build took a considerable amount of time, new trends and styles were making their way to the mainstream. One of those was that new ’14 front end. In order to bring a brand-new flavor to his Chevy, he brought the Silverado to Pales Customs in Houston, where Jesus Castillo replaced the ’08 front clip with the updated 2014.
While the Silverado was in the shop, Jesus stripped down the stock paint and added a metallic white that would sparkle in the sunlight. Patrick Reid added the array of lime green, black, and silver graphics throughout the whole truck and bed. A blue pinstripe was added to enhance the black, and a bright yellow pinstripe was added to enhance the silver.
To modernize the cabin of the Silverado, Diego brought the Chevy to Enrique’s Sunroof, where Enrique tested his creativity by removing the rear bench seat and designing and installing individual bucket seats. A combination of suede and leather were combined with the addition of green diamond stitching down the middle. The headliner was wrapped in suede and a custom sunroof was added to give the Chevy a stylish new look. All moldings were given the metallic white paint treatment.

Now that the Silverado was almost complete, Diego needed some sounds to cruise to. He headed back to Anthony Wilfong at All Star Customs for a full stereo installation using a custom-built console that houses a fullsize iPad that he uses for a head unit as well as a Kenwood DVD player built into the dashboard. Two DD 1500 series 12-inch subwoofers handle the thump while JL amplifiers make the power. Door panel skins were added to all the doors and Focal components installed inside the pockets.
Throughout the years, Diego and his friends have built full custom trucks and were always searching for a fun family style club to join, but ultimately decided to create their own. They formed Team Billet, and it has grown larger and brought friends closer ever since. They spend weekends wrenching at each other’s home and would drop anything to help a fellow team member out. Diego is part of a family who knows how to build trucks to perfection. He wishes to thank everyone who helped him along the way: All Star Customs, Pales Customs, Azteca’s Tire Shop, Intro Wheels, Rio Sound & Security, and, most importantly, his parents for their support and understanding of his passion.
