Making the Grinch Smile

Daydreaming while at work is something we all do on a daily basis. Some dream of the weekend, some dream of the beach, and some dream of their dream truck. Others don’t dream at all; they just do. Michael Fetters’ daily job was at the once renowned Street Beat Customs, where custom ragtops were built and installed. Seeing amazing rides coming in and out of the shop fueled his desire to want something custom himself. Fast-forward a few years and now his daydream has become his reality.
“The Grinch” is what he named his ’99 Nissan Frontier and the custom Perfect Poise logo airbrushed by none other than Charles “The Kid” Armstrong represents exactly that. It took roughly six years to get the truck to the point where Michael was happy with getting it featured. He took his time and chose the shops to do the work very wisely, as his motto is “do it right the first time.” And in our eyes, he did.
There are always a few bumps in the road when we are building these one-of-a-kind rides, and that was no different for Michael’s Nissan. It was in two minor accidents while at two of the shops that were working on it. No harm no foul though, as both shops fixed the Grinch up better than new. (We are thinking this might be why the truck is a bit grumpy). One person who is not grumpy is Michael, as his truck came out better than he could have ever imagined.
The Grinch was not built for Michael alone. One of the main reasons he finished this truck was to help put his club, Perfect Poise, on the map. The irony of that is his club is what pushed him to finish it. He looks at the members of Perfect Poise as a family, and the painted club logo as his biggest accomplishment. He wished to thank his mom and sisters, Custom Car Concepts, American Built Customs, Grunion Fabrication, Charles Armstrong, The Interior Shop, Fat Boy Dave, Ryan MF Nelson, and All Day Fab.
