Photo 1/11 | Custom 2013 Ram 3500 | Stance? This Ram has your stance. A good looking truck like this doesn’t happen overnight. Actually it takes about three weeks if you work real hard at it like CVR Customs did. One of the cool things about the exterior is the lack of chrome and glossy paint, which adds to the truck’s all-business look. The entire cab was wet-sanded and then the cab, along with the new fenders, hood, and bedsides, was sprayed with Chrysler-code PW7 white paint with a 40 percent gloss. The painting was completed by Jamie Bridgman at Don’s Auto Body. Other exterior mods include AMP Research Power Steps and a pair of roof-mounted, double-row 50-inch curved Bulldog LED Lighting lightbars using CVR Customs dual curved lightbar roof mounts.
Photo 2/11 | 6 7l Cummins Engine | The 6.7L Cummins I-6 turbodiesel engine has had its performance increased via an aFe Power Magnum Force Pro 5R Stage 2 intake system, aFe BladeRunner intake manifold, and Edge Products Juice with Attitude CTS programmer. Chris estimates the engine now produces up to 450 hp and 900 lb-ft of torque. The internal engine parts are lubed by Royal Purple synthetic oil. The stock batteries are long gone, replaced with a pair of Odyssey Extreme Series batteries. Power is routed through the stock, new-for-2013 Aisin six-speed automatic transmission, and power is split to the axles via the stock two-speed transfer case.
Photo 3/11 | Custom 2013 Ram 3500 Rear Three Quarter | Addictive Desert Designs made the rear HD Dimple R bumper, and it was powdercoated by Accessories Plus. The bumper has been fit with a pair of Bulldog LED Lighting 2-inch Spike lights so backing up in the dark is a confident experience. Also in the rear of the truck is an Addictive Desert Designs tire carrier that has been modified to accept a 40-inch tire. Other rear end mods include bedliner material in and under the cargo bed, CJC Off Road-sourced Patton Fab Pre-Load Bed Supports, tinted Ram 1500-application LED taillamps, LED license plate lamps, and a Diversi-Tech adjustable locking ball hitch.
Photo 4/11 | Bulldog Led Light Bars On Bumper | Seeing at night isn’t a problem thanks to a pair of bumper-mounted forward-facing Bulldog LED Lighting 40-inch double row LED lights and a pair of Bulldog LED Lighting 2-inch Spike lights. The factory headlamps were modified by Retro Shop and upgraded with 55-watt HID bulbs by CVR Customs. Other front end mods include an Addictive Desert Designs HD Stealth front bumper that was powdercoated by Accessories Plus, a Mile Marker SEC15 (ES) waterproof electric winch, Factor 55 ProLink shackle mount, Monster Hooks billet Swivel Hook, Rolling Big Power RX-1 grille with painted bezel, and RKSport Striker fiberglass ram-air hood.
Photo 5/11 | Cvr Customs And Mcgaughy Front Suspension | CVR Customs worked with Steve McGaughy at McGaughy’s Suspension to produce components for the then-new front suspension design. McGaughy created custom boxed radius long-arms, 6-inch-lift progressive-rate coil springs, a boxed track bar drop bracket, and longer sway-bar end links. McGaughy’s also made the drop pitman arm that helped compensate for the suspension lift. Gavin Schneider at Inspired Industries modified the coil buckets as well as the shock mounts. And speaking of shocks, each side of the front axle is fit with much larger than stock custom-valved, triple-bypass, 3-inch ADS Racing Shocks. The axle itself features G2 Axle & Gear 4.56 cogs and Royal Purple gear oil.
Photo 6/11 | Rear Suspension With Ads Shocks | Out back, the stock rear axle has been fit with G2 Axle & Gear 4.56 gears and diff cover. The suspension consists of custom leaf springs from Pure Performance along with ADS Racing Shocks remote-reservoir, custom-valved, 3-inch triple-bypass shocks. Note the 2.5-gallon air tank in the upper portion of the photo. It’s part of the Viair Ultra Duty onboard air system that includes a 100 percent duty cycle compressor.
Photo 7/11 | Mcgaughys Boxed Radius Arm | Here, you can see one of the McGaughy’s custom-boxed radius long-arms that locate the front axle. These arms are way beefier than stock and are made from cold-rolled 1⁄4-inch steel.
Photo 8/11 | Trail Ready Beadlock Wheel | The hefty 40-inch Toyo Open Country M/T tires are 15.5 inches in width, and they’re mounted to a set of 9-inch-wide TrailReady heavy-duty beadlock wheels. This system ensures that when Chris is blasting around in the dunes with the tires aired down each tire will stay securely mounted on its wheel.
Photo 9/11 | 2013 Ram 3500 Interior | The interior of the Ram wasn’t overlooked during the build. The factory wood trim door and dash pieces were wrapped in 3D carbon fiber by Vinyl Styles; there are ISSPRO Performax boost, transmission temp, and exhaust temp gauges in an Auto Meter A-pillar mount; and there is an Edge Products Insight CTS monitor. Window tint by Best Image keeps the hot sun and prying eyes at bay.
Photo 10/11 | Front Fiberwerx Fender | One of the key factors to keeping the trucks height low while still being able to run 40-inch tires was the addition of Fiberwerx fenders. The front fenders have a 4-inch bulge and a 21⁄2-inch rise, and the bedsides have a 41⁄2-inch bulge.
