How to Go Bigger Where Everything's Bigger

If you live in or have ever been through the big state of Texas, then you know that seeing trucks with big lifts and big wheels is pretty common. It seems that big trucks are more prevalent than stock ones. Well, that's exactly what Ismael Leon of Houston, Texas, has: a big truck. He owns this '15 Ford F-350 Platinum Dualie that holds its own with all the other Texas trucks. For those of you who are avid Instagram users, you may have seen his previous build, a '11 Ford F-250 with a 10-inch lift that seems to still pop up on various truck pages. When we asked Ismael why he got rid of such a known truck, he replied "F-250s were everywhere in Texas, so it was time to go bigger." That and the fact that he actually uses the gooseneck in his new dualie to haul hay from various properties, stepping up in truck size was not only a want, but a necessity. Knowing that he wanted to make a statement with this truck, he opted to go all out and not only build a regular F-350, but a Platinum model.

Knowing he had big plans for this truck, Ismael picked up a set of polished 24x8.25 American Force Evo wheels wrapped in 295/40/24 tires before he even purchased the truck. This set the bar for how the truck was going to look once he was done with it. He had plans to lift the truck but having the new rollers sitting around made it difficult to wait on installing them, so about a week after he took possession of the truck, he bolted them on. The stock-with-wheels look didn't last long; he was soon over at Pixel Werks having a matte black wrap installed on the top half of the truck to give it a two-tone look. A set of Fusion bumpers were painted to match and stuffed with Rigid Industries LED lights before they were bolted on. A Gravel Empire grill insert and a set of custom headlights built by Rekless Rydes wraps up the front end while a set of Recon taillights fills the voids in the rear. A Torzatop folding bed cover keeps the BedRug and Swing Cases as well as anything Ismael hauls in his bed dry and secure.

Now that the truck looked like new money, it was time to make it perform the same way. Ismael added an EGR block-off and an S&B Intake to help it breathe a little better and a 5-inch turbo-back MBRP exhaust to spit out the fumes easier. He also added an SCT X4 programmer to get the maximum performance from the new diesel. There weren't any upgrades needed to the interior since it already had the pecan leather platinum upgrades, so it was on to the suspension since that was the only thing left on his master plan. Ismael had Maxxed Performance install an 8-inch McGaughys Phase III lift with boxed four-link arms in the front. They also installed a set of Fox coilovers and cranked the front up to a total of 11.5 inches of lift and a set of dual Fox steering stabilizers. Out back they installed 8-inch blocks and a set of Fox Reservoir shocks. All of the suspension components as well as both driveshafts were powdercoated white to match the truck. The fuel tank cover was also painted white to bring a little more color under the truck. Now that the truck was lifted, Ismael had the street tires swapped out for a beefy set of 38/13.50/24 Nitto Trail Grapplers. In order to make sure everyone could see all this suspension color day or night, 14 Rigid Industries A-Series rock lights were installed under the truck.

This is where most people would call it a day and be happy with the outcome, but not Ismael. Two days before making the 1,470-mile trip to Vegas for the SEMA Show, he had Pixel Werks strip the half wrap and go with a snow camo theme wrap. Not only was the body given the treatment, but all of the suspension and both driveshafts also match this theme. Ismael said getting the truck to where it is today wouldn't be possible without the help from Maxxed Performance, Power Stroke Ingenuities, Pixel Werks, Taqueria El Charro, Fusion Bumpers, BedRug, Undercover, Advantage, Recon, and Amp Research.
