The 2002 Underground Experience - Custom Truck Show
Draggin' Through Sin City
Back in March, the members of Underground Car and Truck Club invited the show community back to beautiful Las Vegas for another round of their show. Held on the new Freemont Street Experience, this show offered up some choice activities. The show field placed all of the competitors square in the middle of the casinos, bars, and nightclubs that Freemont Street is famous for. Spectators had it easy because they were able to view trucks while they walked in and out of casinos, gambling their way through a great show. More than 400 vehicles made their way to downtown Vegas for the show; everyone had a great time. The completely shaded show field was filled to the brim with body-dropped and custom-painted minis. Everything from Chevy S-10s tucking 22-inch rims to Tacomas flexin' suicide doors were present. The suspension setups were just as impressive, and the tube work that some of the minis posessed rivaled great works of art. We even saw a couple of trucks with small-block Chevy conversions and turbo-assisted motors. Yes, there was something for everyone, whether you were looking for wacky body mods, huge audio systems, custom graphics, or performance motors and suspensions. Rain fell briefly, but that didn't do anything to damp the spirits of all who attended this fabulous event. Some of the clubs represented at this event included Desired Visions, Xtreme Lowz, Visual Sinz, and Art of Noize. Shops such as Musso Motorsports, Unique Motorsports, and Shawn Ealy Designs all brought out innovative minis that pushed the envelope of creativity and style. The Underground Experience is a great show and an even better excuse to visit Sin City. Start saving those quarters and working on your ride; before you know it, this show will be back and it will be time to display your ride in front of a casino and enjoy a weekend in Las Vegas.
