2003 Pebble Pushers' SCR8P Fest - SCR8P Fest 2003 - Events
Pebble Pushers' 6th Annual Drag And Shine
As most of you know, many of the truck shows that take place around the country are put on by local truck clubs. Some grow to be large events and are well known across the country - such as Showfest, put on by Assorted Miniatures in Greenville, Mississippi - while others stay on the small end of the scale. One such club that is catching on is Pebble Pushers, out of the Concord, North Carolina, area. For the last six years, the club has been putting on a show called SCR8P Fest in the parking lot of the Fieldcrest-Cannon baseball stadium. This past year's show was the biggest yet, with more than 400 vehicles showing up for the three-day party.
Many of the participants started rolling in on Friday afternoon, setting up their campsites for a weekend of festivities. Rides from up and down the East Coast made the trek to be part of this great event. There were several guys who came all the way from Pennsylvania to show off their great trucks. The quality of the vehicles was really outstanding, so much so that the judges from Pebble Pushers had a tough time making their picks.
At about 2 p.m. things really got revved up with the hopping contest. Several of the vehicles got their front ends up in the air, hitting over the 4-foot mark. A guy with an old-school S-10 put on an exhibition, with a dancing bed that simultaneously shot off fireworks. The crowd really got a big kick out of it. After the fireworks were over, everyone moved to the burnout competition. Everything from trucks to ATVs took part and really smoked the place up.
As the sun started setting in the western sky, everyone lined up to take part in the draggin' contest and light up the night with sparks. Once the sparks had been parked, everyone headed inside the stadium to see the bikini contest. Unfortunately, only two girls took part, but they really put on a show and didn't mind showing off for the guys. As the crowd headed out to get something to eat, things were getting fired up in the camping area with some impromptu draggin' contests and a party that went well into the wee hours of the morning.
If you like to party, then you need to be making plans to be part of the 2004 edition of SCR8P Fest. Don't forget to spread the word that the show needs some more women for the bikini contest.
