East Coast Minis 2004 - Custom Truck Show
For the past five years, East Coast Minis (ECM) has been hosting its own show by the Maryland shore. The show is held at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, Maryland. Each year, it seems to grow, with attendees coming from up and down the East Coast. Although the show is held on Sunday, many arrive early to cruise Ocean City for a night of draggin' before the event gets underway.
ECM's show has more than 35 classes, with trophies and cash prizes for those who prove to be the best of the best. At the Civic Center, you can find plenty of laid-out minis stretched across the parking lot. If you think your ride has what it takes, go inside where the judges take a really close look. You can go under the magnifying glass to find out who's top dog.
The ECM crew held a high/low contest, along with a few other events to keep attendees busy. Many people found themselves visiting vendors such as Drop 'Em Wear? and Everlasting Entertainment.
As the day went on, people began to wander inside for some relief from the blistering sun. Once inside, the ECM crew began tossing out free goodies from the various companies that helped put on the event, as well as plenty of car-care products. After all the free stuff was thrown, the stage was lined with beautiful women for the bikini contest.
As soon as the ladies finished strutting their stuff, the ECM staff quickly loaded the trophies on the stage. The awards ceremony proved to be quick and painless, with the ECM staff doing a great job of announcing and getting the awards handed out, including the monster Club Participation trophy. When it was all said and done, the event was one for the record books. Lots of happy people and killer rides had assembled together, even if only for a day.
ECM's show was a blast and is only looking to get better in the coming years. For more information on future ECM events, contact: Jeff Wooten, (410) 548-5427; Cliff Somers, (410) 341-6596; www.eastcoastminis.com.
