Xtreme Lowz's Blooddrag 2005 - Custom Truck Shows
New Venue, Same Awesome Show
For its 17th annual show, Xtreme Lowz decided it was time for a change. Tired of the showgoers and supporters always getting sweated by "Johnny Law" in West Palm Beach, Eddy Cebreco and the Xtreme Lowz crew took matters into their own hands. They immediately began searching for a venue that would appreciate the tremendous amount of business and support that Blooddrag brings to the city where it's held. Lucky for us, they stumbled upon a little city in north Florida about 78 miles from Tallahassee and 79 miles from Jacksonville called Live Oak. Live Oak is a small town with a population less than 7,000. With the 7,000 spectators the show brings in, Blooddrag literally doubled the town's population!
The venue at the Suwannee County Airport was more hospitable than we could have imagined. There was actually a full-blown drag-it-off contest Saturday night where anyone could enter to compete for custom-made trophies and cash prizes. The locals also treated everyone like neighbors. Local parties raged all weekend long, making the out-of-towners feel right at home. The staffs at all the hotels were especially attentive to everyone's needs, and we were all made to feel so welcome that it's no wonder the show will be held at the same place next year-and probably for many years to come.
After all of the draggin' and parties, it was time for Sunday's events. The judges tallied up the points, and the trophies were handed out. The award for Club Participation went to AcrophobiA, Best of Show Truck went to Brad Speir's Green S-10, Best Import Truck went to Chris Gaddie, and Best Suspension was given to John Johnson. However, some people don't stick around Sunday just for the awards. They also stay to check out the Bikini Contest that generally takes place Sunday to give the judges time to organize the trophies. Although this year's contest wasn't quite as big as Eddy's normal shindigs, it still kept the crowd happy. The cash winners were Jessica, Misty (the Live Oak local), and Rachel. Also something new for this year was the pre-reg contest. Aside from making the badass acrylic "Best of" trophies, Acrylic Concepts also sponsored a pre-registration contest to giveaway a free plexiglass steering wheel and free registration for Blooddrag '06, just for reading this article. The winner is Leslie Lifson from Alexander City, Alabama. Leslie, please contact Jim at acrylic concepts to claim your steering wheel, (954) 593-3563, www.acrylicconcepts1.com.
Eddy and the rest of the Xtreme Lowz team would like to thank their sponsors: Acrylic Concepts, G & C Car Audio, CSR Racing, Custom Illusions, Godfather Customs, Maguires, MMATS Pro-Audio, Scrape-N-Customs, The Wheel Stop, Toyo Tires, and Line-X. Make sure to join us next year and witness the Blooddrag experience for yourself. Also, be on the lookout for a Blooddrag coming to your part of the country soon.
