Gator Drag 2005 - Custom Truck Show
Trophies For Dinner
You should check out the Gator Drag show, if for no other reason than to see the trophies awarded to class winners that are literally fashioned from dead alligator heads. It's a sick and twisted homage to the individuals that build custom trucks with gullwing doors, Swiss-cheese graphics, and body drops so huge that the wheels protrude through the fenders. The Gator Drag is held from April 8-10 and is one of the South's biggest upcoming shows and the perfect venue for custom truck fiends.
With as many as 350 vehicles in the show and nearly 7,000 spectators, this show is sure to become yet another must-attend show in the South. The quality of vehicles was strong, and the cooperation of the town was first-rate. The hosting hotels were set up near an overabundance of fast-food restaurants, as well as oversized convenience stores.
Other than the hundreds of vehicles on display, there were lots of other sights to be seen, including live alligators on display, as well as spectator-friendly games and contests, such as the tire toss. There was also a burn-out contest that took place, where we saw a dragster pull up-only in the South.
The nightlife at this show was a blast. Two adjoining hotels, sharing a common parking lot, served as a stomping ground for the would-be kids. Everything you could possibly need was in walking distance, to avoid tickets for driving while stupid. A couple of huge drag sessions took place for the make-your-own-video crews. In short, there was entertainment for all, and we can't wait to see what Gator Drag '06 holds in store.
The staff of Gator Drag '05 would like to thank its main sponsors: O'Reilly Auto Parts, Cutting Edge, Domination, Extreme Air Valves, Gulf Coast Autoplex, and Kaik Products. Also in attendance were Drop Em Wear, Fast Eddy's Hot Rod Art, Lowlife Video and Silver Star Customs. Special thanks go out to Polly Henry, who was an integral part in the show. Gator Drag '06 is already in the works. For information, contact: Brandon Leblanc, (337) 658-5805, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
