Blood Drag 2006 - Custom Truck Show
Florida Brings More Than Rain!
When the snow begins to thaw out and rides slowly roll out of the garage you know it's about time to hit the first big show of the season. (Well, in Cali the snow is gone from the mountains already. LOL) BloodDrag in Live Oak, FL, kicked off the 2006 season in true mini-truck fashion with crazy rides, hot chicks, and, of course, draggin' (in no particular order). The first weekend in February is reserved for this killer Florida event because the quality rides, mixed with the killer show atmosphere, really make this one a can't-miss!
Eddy Cebreco and the Xtreme Lowz crew have perfected the formula for throwing a weekend event that makes BloodDrag the successful show that it is today. There's never a dull moment. From the time you pull your ride into the showgrounds on Friday to hotel checkout time on Monday morning, there's good times had by all. This year was the second year that the Live Oak Airport was host to the event, and again things went off without a hitch. With over 750 rides and 5,000 spectators there was plenty going on to keep everyone busy. As usual, there was food, folks, and fun, but one unusual thing was the weather. For two weeks before the show the chance of rain and thunderstorms was bouncing around like Kobe Bryant's points-per-game. One final check before we hit the airport showed a 20% chance for Saturday. Well, as Florida weather has a tendency to do, Friday night became a crazy hail, wind, thunder, and rain storm, and as quick as it came it was gone, leaving only sunny skies all day Saturday and Sunday. Perfect bikini contest weather and even better draggin' weather!
As the name suggests, BloodDrag is not just about the truck show. It's also a giant blood drive to help those in need. Life South Blood Bank is responsible for collecting blood donations, and last year's BloodDrag was the biggest blood drive for them, with 110 pints. This year they shattered that record by 80 pints, bringing in almost 200 pints in one weekend! Eddy would like to thank his Xtreme Lowz boys, and says he couldn't do it without them. Also, special thanks go out to the awesome sponsors and vendors, including Air Zenith, Acrylic Concepts, Drop 'Em Wear, Egor's Cool Rides, MMATS Pro Audio, S-N-C, Smokin' Guns Graphix, Suicidedoors.com, and Q&C Car Stereo.
