Club Severed Ties decided to do the third annual Tex Mex show as a traditional three-day truck run. Such an event requires sites for camping of course, and Overlook Park in Somerville, Texas, offered plenty of space and a great location next to Lake Somerville.
These days, shows done in truck-run fashion are almost nonexistent, so it's exciting whenever one comes around. Part of the reason for their rarity is that the traveling circus of truck enthusiasts can sometimes attract folks who don't care if they mess it up for the rest of us. To help make sure those in our scene didn't get a bad rap, members from several chapters of Severed Ties walked around passing out bags for trash and making sure no one acted the fool.
Tex Mex '08 went off with out any major problems from showgoers, and everyone had a hell of a time. Because things went so well, it's quite likely that this truck run will be rocking Lake Somerville in '09.
