When we rolled up to the registration booth on Friday night and saw all the vehicles and people walking around, we knew it was going to be good times. Summer Madness has been a part of the California scene for the last 22 years, and by the look of this year's turnout, this show should go for the next 20-plus years. Cherokee, the head chief in charge, was sitting at the gate (as he does every year), greeting people as they came in, and then hanging out on stage Saturday night.
Once we got our camp set up, we broke out the SoCo and diet, grabbed the camera, and we made our way up to the stage to see what was going on. After the stage shut down for the night, it was time to make our rounds of the campsite. By the time we were done, we had to start all over again, because of all the people that were still rolling in. Before morning, which was about the time we went to bed, there were more than 400 vehicles in the park.
Photo 3/34   |   Saturday afternoon, the guys from Severed Ties fired up the barbeque and cooked a lot of good food.
Saturday temperatures were in the high 80s, that made for a lot of bikini-wearing beauties, lounging in inflatable pools or slip 'n' slides. You couldn't ask for better times. With Summer Madness being the last three-day run in California, we expect a bigger turnout next year, because of how much fun everybody had.
