Dear Mini Truckin',
I recently found out that a friend of mine was approached to be shot for your magazine in the fall. The time came around for him to give out all the info on his truck when he was asked for his wheel combo. He said he had stock rims from a Chrysler 300, and at that point he was informed there was no longer an interest to shoot his truck. I opened my mailbox and pull out the newest MT and come to the page with the Hawaiian Hardbody with STOCK Infiniti rims. Why is it you can't shoot my friend's truck? Anyone who has seen it knows there's a lot of hard work involved, and quite frankly I'm tired of seeing S-10s and commonly 'bagged vehicles-throw a Dakota in your magazine! His truck is a '96 Dakota painted with DuPont Hot Hues Limelight color, is bodydropped, and has Caddy tails and a Superbee hood. His truck was featured in Gauge magazine, and it wasn't even completed. It is finally finished and looks amazing. I really hope you get back to me on this one.

There is no rule about a truck being disqualified for a photo shoot due to the brand of wheels it is rolling on. Yes, the Hawaiian Hardbody (vol. 24, #12) does have a factory set of Infiniti wheels, and yes, it looks clean as hell with them bolted on. Now, we are at the disadvantage of not being able to judge the overall appearance of your friend's Dakota since you did not include a photo in your email, but we would like to stress the fact that he shouldn't worry too much about this situation. Please feel free to have your buddy email in a photo or two of his Dodge, and we can go from there. Also, since you didn't specify who exactly was approaching you about shooting your friend's ride, it's difficult for us to make a firm assessment of their judgment. We have a strong network of freelance photogs around the country, and they all keep in close communication with our editorial staff about what they plan on shooting for the magazine. Please email us at, and we can take it from there. Thanks for writing in.
