Midwest Dyno Day At Randall's Performance

20 Diesels Spin the Rollers in Search of the Truth

It’s a shop most would say is out in the middle of nowhere—yet there always seems to be 15 to 20 Fords, Dodges, and Chevys in the parking lot. If trucks don’t show up at Randall’s Performance and Accessory to be repaired, turned up, or accessorized, they’re there to run on its state-of-the-art SuperFlow chassis dyno. This is why the folks at Randall’s host an annual open house and dyno day, during which their customers and other diesel enthusiasts get a chance to see how much real-world horsepower their rides are actually making.
Photo 2/14   |   Quite a few trucks were in the 500hp range on Randall’s Performance and Accessory’s chassis dyno during the shop’s all-day dyno event, including this 6.4L-powered Ford. Despite having 80hp nozzles and an AirDog lift pump to help supply fuel, the stock Siemens injection pump was unable to maintain rail pressure, culminating in a best run of 500 hp and 983 lb-ft. If injection pump and turbo upgrades are in the future, however, the Super Duty should make more than 600 hp.
We headed to its facility, located in Gladstone, Illinois, to attend one of its all-day dyno events. We saw some impressive trucks grace the rollers and have provided the power-making recipes for the top three finishers.
