Farming is big business. Its reach expands from small rural towns to enormous, million-acre farms run by large corporations. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that there is a World Agricultural Expo held every year, in the small town of Tulare, California, located in the Golden State’s central valley.
Encompassing more than a million square feet of show space, the Ag Expo features a variety of equipment, from work trucks to tractors to mowers and everything in between. There are truck beds for contractors, trailers for all types of hauling, and plenty of heavy equipment to go around.

Keeping in mind the diverse nature of the World Ag Expo, we set out to find the newest, most interesting, most exciting equipment the farm show had to offer. What we dug up ranged in shape, size, and price, but you can bet it was all diesel powered. So without further ado, enjoy our take on the 2014 World Ag Expo.
Porter brought this cool hydraulically powered articulating mower to the show, which is known as the Orchard Boss. Capable of tackling any corner, this unit is used to get into and around tight spaces, such as the rows between almond trees.

This Volvo L60G that was reaching to the sky brought many bystanders over to Volvo’s display booth, which featured all types of large tractors and construction equipment.

Yanmar had many machines on hand -- of all shapes and sizes -- such as this 780 tractor, which was a small but powerful tracked vehicle.

The Claas 980 Jaguar was one of the largest tractors in attendance, absolutely dwarfing the semi it was trailered in on. A massive piece of foraging equipment, the V-12 it’s powered by produces a whopping 884 hp.

With compound turbos and a 2:1 gear reduction drive, the MT875E Challenger is able to apply 2,800 lb-ft of torque to the earth. Up at the engine (before gear reduction amplifies the torque number), this equates to roughly 1,400 lb-ft at 1,200 rpm, which allows the tractor to lug any piece of equipment, through any field condition.

The largest engine we found was this mammoth 27.0L CAT engine, which made 1,050 hp at 2,200 rpm and held more than 70 quarts of oil.
