2015 State Fair of Texas
THE Truck Show
Held each fall in Dallas, the State Fair of Texas is about much more than fried Twinkies, carnie rides, livestock auctions, and half-price hot tubs. Now in its 129th year, the fair has become home to one of the most important auto shows for pickup manufacturers. Texans purchase more trucks than any other state, making this the prime location to show off each brand's latest and greatest. With the immense foot traffic generated by the fair, it is a prime location to interact with the greatest number of potential customers, unlike the traditional auto show where attendance is much lower and far more diverse in their interests.
The year's event saw large displays from all six pickup manufacturers. The biggest news was Ford's introduction of the all-new 2017 Super Duty. Chevrolet showed off the redesigned 2016 Silverado 1500, 2016 Colorado diesel, and 2016 Silverado HD Midnight edition. GMC trotted out the redesigned 2016 Sierra 1500 and Elevation special edition. For Ram the Rebel and Laramie Limited took center stage. Over at Toyota everyone was abuzz about the all-new Tacoma and the company's impending move to Plano, Texas. Nissan had a larger presence at the show than before in anticipation of the company's new Titan XD hitting dealers by the end of 2015.
The State Fair of Texas is a must for anyone who loves good BBQ and pickups. It has a much livelier feel than the traditional stuffy auto show and is a fun day for the whole family.
