Severed In Hawaii
Any excuse to make a trip to Hawaii is a valid one. Especially if that excuse involves being surrounded by some of the baddest custom cars and trucks that the Big Island has to offer. Recently, we were fortunate enough to hop a plane and went straight to the Kona Brew Company to check out the third annual Severed in Hawaii car show. We jumped at the chance to bring you some custom rides—island style.
During the last few years, show promoters Neil Kamimura and Blake Hornbacher have partnered up to throw one heck of an island-style party with a pretty stellar truck and car show that brings out all of the finest local rides from across multiple genres. But with limited capacity, they've had to move and grow the show depending on the surroundings available. This year's event took place at the Kona Brewery, and actually took over four city blocks to smash all previous records! You couldn't ask for a cooler venue, with tons of on hand vendors, a beer garden (of course), hula girls, performances throughout the night, laser tag, slot-car racing, Hawaiian-style bikini contest, burnout contest, limbo, and much more.
The best trucks, girls, and performers all competed for cash prizes, custom trophies, and the crowd’s attention. Everything that was packed into the single nighttime show is hard to put here in words, so you'll just have to join us on the Big Island for next year's event. See you there!
