A Day to Remember Custom Show
Buffalo Bills or Bust
Freaks of Nature has put on the A Day to Remember benefit show for three years now, and the show just keeps getting bigger every year. The 2016 event was held at Buffalo Bill’s casino in Primm, Nevada, giving show goers the chance to cruise the cars during the day and have a place to crash overnight.
The one-day show is growing in popularity as it combines a great location with a great cause. What started out as a way to raise funds for the family of fallen Freaks of Nature club member James “Chubbs” McKittrick has morphed to include the remembrance of all those who were taken before their time with proceeds benefiting both Chubbs’ family and local charities. Although the reason that brought almost 200 custom trucks, cars, and motorcycles out to the California-Nevada border was somewhat of a somber one, the mood was great, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and everyone was glad to be there.
Organizer of the show, “Freakmaster” Shannon Vanderaa has close ties to the show’s namesake having been both roommates and club mates with Chubbs. He really said it best. “This show started with the memory of my dear friend and has grown to include all the club members from all the clubs who are no longer with us. So, we have this great show in their honor, get together for a day, and spend time with our friends because that is what this scene is all about.” For more information about the 2017 event, go to www.facebook.com/events/1597436587241178/.
