2017 Grand National Roadster Show
Perfect Day in Pomona
The 2017 Grand National Roadster Show rolled into the Pomona Fairplex and brought with it all the fanfare and excitement this show is known for. This long-running salute to customs of the past saw a huge attendance, as it always does. The crowd milled through the many indoor display areas, focusing on the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster competition that took place front and center. This year saw 13 entries that were dominated by Ford Roadsters—two of them pickups. But it also saw entries from Lincoln, Dodge and Packard. The AMBR moniker did not disappoint, as the level of these builds is astronomical.
The outside display areas were also a sight to see. Trucks and cars of all types lined the alleyways between the buildings. While the build quality was high, it was a foray into a nicer run-what-you-brung crowd who had these vehicles for the purpose of driving them daily or on special occasions like this.
The vendors also made a strong showing providing all the T-shirts, repair and upgrade parts, while the cavalcade of food vendors provided the mouth-watering smells. All in all, the GNRS is a great show seems to be on everyone’s calendar both near and far, which was evidenced by the uptick in foreign languages being spoken on the Fairplex grounds.
