Camp N Drag 2017: Custom Community Comes Up Big
Camp N Drag 2017
Back in 2007, Bill Baltikas and his Balistik Truck club organized the premier event in the Midwest. They started Camp N Drag, and for the last ten years it’s been a show you absolutely can’t miss. The 10th anniversary was celebrated at the event, held once again at Lake Waveland Park in Waveland, Indiana. This year was the setting for a record-breaking event.
Over 1,500 spectators were welcomed through the gates as over 600 show vehicles were parked throughout the showgrounds. The spacious park allows for car and truck clubs to set up camp and stay for the entire weekend. Bill’s team of Balistik truck club members worked hard throughout the day parking, judging and keeping the grounds clean and safe.
Sponsors for the 2017 Midwest Camp N Drag event included Drop Em Wear, Meguiars, Big Hammer Fab, Buddies Garage, Asphalt Army, All Time Low Mag, Mini Truck Cartel, Kirco Precision Tools, Air Lift, Lowrider Depot, Gauge Magazine, KIK and the hard working Balistik crew. An auction for truck parts was held by Bill and his club and raised over $12,000 for #TeamGavin who suffers from MPS II Hunter Syndrome. Kyle Richardson used his customized ’41 International Loadstar former grain truck to fill up the cavernous bed with 15,000 Hot Wheels toys that were donated to Riley Children’s Hospital, in Indianapolis, Indiana, which provides a wide spectrum of pediatric services from simple checkups to complex treatable conditions.
The custom community that supports these shows nationwide commonly use these gatherings to band together and support charitable causes, such as what happened at Camp N Drag 2017. The family friendly nature of these shows is reflected in the causes they support.
Bill wishes to thank everyone who came out to support the 10th anniversary of Camp N Drag. For more information and next year’s dates, log on to www.CampNDrag.com
