Photo 8/41 | 001 ODSS 2017 Index Group | We lead things off with a group shot of racers competing in the Outlaw Diesel Super Series ATS Diesel Performance/Diesel Power Magazine 7.70 Index Class, affectionately referred to as “our class,” a great entry-level racing category for modified street-oriented trucks.
Photo 9/41 | 008 ODSS 2017 Pro Mod Record Holder | Rawlings Barnes and the Rudy’s Diesel Performance & Offroad Ford F-250 made the biggest performance statement in the SunCoast Performance Pro Mod Class, blasting straight down Broadway at Fall Truck Jam to a record-setting 4.99 e.t. at 142.09 mph!

Photo 12/41 | 011 ODSS 2017 Clean Silverado | Stroll through the show-’n’-shine area at any ODDS event to see all types of badass oil-burning vehicles. This Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD (owned by Zach Bratton) caught our eye at Scheid Diesel Extravaganza 2017. It apparently impressed members of the Purdue Diesel Club enough to earn “Best GM” honors in Friday’s show ’n’ shine, and it definitely impressed us when Zach raced it in the ATS Diesel Performance/Diesel Power Magazine 7.70 Index Class at the dragstrip.

Photo 16/41 | 015 ODSS 2017 Smart Car | By a show of hands, who knew diesel-powered smart cars exist? Well, let’s qualify the question a bit more. Have you ever seen one in person? This rare specimen drew a lot of deserved attention at SDX 2017.

Photo 18/41 | 017 ODSS 2017 Wagler Engine | The crew at Wagler Competition Products gave its Duramax-based DX500 engine a new look in 2017. While the ginormous screw supercharger and nitrous-oxide system remain intact, gone are the twin 102mm Pro Mod turbochargers, replaced by a cool set of “zoomie” headers that give the 500-cubic-inch monster an incredible sound.

Photo 22/41 | 021 ODSS 2017 Lavon | The names “Lavon Miller” and “Firepunk Diesel” have been synonymous with drag-racing success for several years. The team’s Dodge Ram 2500 set new high-performance standards at each event, including a 5.002-second (at 145 mph) rip at the Fall Truck Jam, set at Rudy’s Diesel Performance & Offroad at the close of the ODSS season.

Photo 27/41 | 026 ODSS 2017 Trophy | There’s no doubt that the ATS Diesel Performance/Diesel Power Magazine 7.70 Index was ODSS’ biggest class in 2017. It wasn’t uncommon to see more than 50 hard-hitting street trucks in the staging lanes at each event. We hope to see you and your rig in the lanes in 2018!

Photo 30/41 | 029 ODSS 2017 Big Rigs | Big rigs also have a place to race at ODSS events. It’s always cool to see massive Kenworths, Peterbilts, Volvos, Freightliners, and other Class 8 trucks rumble through the eighth-mile.
