The 29th Spring Daytona Turkey Run
Drive your truck, then drive the track!
Florida is famous for its year-round car and truck shows (since people in the Sunshine State don’t garage their vehicles for the winter). With multiple choices available to event-goers every weekend of the year, show promoters have to be on their game to keep enthusiasts coming back for more. That means when you find one that has been entertaining drivers for nearly three decades, it grabs your attention. And there’s one event in the Southeast drivers never miss: the Spring Daytona (and Fall!) Turkey Run.
This event has been drawing attendees over the years with its long list of attractions and huge collection of vehicles. This March, the infield of the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, was the setting, with more than 1,500 vehicles on display. More than 50,000 show attendees wandered the rows for hours, seeing something new at every turn. If you left the display field for the collection of swap meet vendors, chances were good you could find exactly the part you needed for that restoration project back home. If it was time for something new in the family garage, the Car Corral had a unique collection of specialty rides sure to fit every taste and budget. But that was just the beginning. The event boasted arts and crafts on Artisan Alley, a meet and greet with celebrity guest Rachel De Barros from All Girls Garage on the Velocity channel, and more than 15 different craft and domestic beers at the Hops and Hoods Beer Festival! Bow Tie enthusiasts enjoyed the Centennial Chevy Truck Celebration with an exhibit of Chevy trucks from throughout the years, including the ’18 Chevy Centennial Edition and the vintage ’45 pickup owned by Show Chairman Rick Finzer.
But Sunday afternoon was the treat that got everyone’s attention—the opportunity to take a lap on the legendary Daytona International Speedway. Photographers were on hand to document the adventure.
