2019 Diesel Power Challenge Voting

It’s Time to Determine Who Will Compete in Diesel Power Challenge XV

OK, diesel fans, lets’s go! The time has come for you to vote for the Dodge Ram (and Ram), Ford, and GM trucks you think should be invited to square off against Kody Pulliam for the 2019 Diesel Power Challenge Presented by XDP title.
Please take a close look at the photos and details on the 23 featured pickups. Yes, we know it’s a small number of candidates, and we certainly have had bigger groups to select from for past events. However, as you will learn by studying the photos and details presented here, the collection is plenty stout, and with the inclusion of relatively newer rigs (an ’18 Ram and a ’17 Ford), the group is fairly diverse, too. We now need you to select nine trucks and drivers you feel should compete in the 15th DPC, which goes down June 2 through June 6, 2019, in Denver, Colorado.
For those who are new to us, Diesel Power Challenge is our annual performance, endurance, and strategy contest for diesel-powered pickups and their drivers and crews. For 2019, your selected field of nine (three Dodge Ram, three Ford, and three GM) participants will compete in six competitive events that include: dyno testing (for combined power and torque), evaluating a vehicle’s fuel consumption and driveability, jockeying a loaded trailer (11,500 pounds) through an obstacle course, towing that same trailer over an eighth-mile distance to achieve the quickest elapsed time, heads-up quarter-mile drag racing, and sled pulling.

For 2019, the Dodge Ram/Cummins contingent (Note: Engine-swapped entries are classified by truck brand, not engine type) submitted the most entries with 10, while Ford/Power Stroke faithful offered nine rigs for your approval. Once again, the total number of GM/Duramax-powered rigs to select from is small (only four trucks).
Before you vote, it’s very important you understand this fact about the truck data published in this feature. While language in the official Diesel Power Challenge 2019 Entry Form expresses our preference for critical details about trucks that are being considered for your votes (such as full brand or company names, model numbers, sizes, and such) is quite clear, unfortunately, details you may want to know may not be included in the entry information. Blame that on whoever completed the form.
Contacting owners for additional data is extremely time consuming, and it’s not something we are able to do in a timeframe that supports getting this important task completed by its deadline. As such, details that can impact the way you vote may or may not be included (for example, in several entries, Electronics/ECM calibration stats are noted only as “SCT” or “HP Tuners,” or “tuning by Ryan” [we’ll assume Milliken], and so on).
What you see is what we got. The information about each entry is as fleshed out as we could make it during the editing process (horsepower and torque values are based on the “big numbers” that are provided—typically with nitrous oxide—and we basically split the difference for fuel-economy data that is presented in a range, but we acknowledge there are some holes). Something to remember is that in this age of social media, we strongly suggest you reach out to entrants through the various popular channels (almost all of them are on Facebook or Instagram) and ask specific questions about their rigs. As it is with any election, being well informed is essential for making a good decision.
We think every rig in this small-but-mighty group has what it takes to shine at Diesel Power Challenge 2019 Presented by XDP. Of course, the final decision regarding “who gets invited” is yours to make. There is no maximum number of ballots you can submit. But please understand that on each individual slip you’re only allowed to vote once for each truck, and each selection absolutely must be made on the official ballot form that you’ll find at the end of the print version of this report (photocopies, photos, faxes, emails, or Snapchats of the ballot will not be accepted).
All voting must be sent by U.S. Mail, FedEx, or UPS to:
Diesel Power Challenge 2019—VOTING
831 S. Douglas Street
El Segundo, CA 90245
Again, there’s no limit to the number of ballots you can submit. So make your selections and get those votes to us by Friday, April 19, 2019! This deadline will be strictly adhered to, as votes must be tallied quickly. Results will be announced LIVE on Friday May 3, 2019 (9 a.m. EST) on the Diesel Power Magazine Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/dieselpowermagazine/) from Ultimate Callout Challenge 2019.
