Diesel Power Challenge: Ram, Ford, GM Battle
Our pride and joy is growing up so fast, and we couldn’t be happier! 2014 marks the 10th installment of our signature event, Diesel Power Challenge. Over the years, this invitation-only, diesel-fueled brawl has drawn in some of the most powerful diesel pickups in the nation. We’ve seen frontrunners fail and underdogs rise to the top, reinforcing the fact that consistency and reliability are the keys to victory. Competitors have endured blazing heat, falling snow, torrential rain, high altitude, mechanical failures, and mental breakdowns. Yet year after year, a batch of new hopefuls sends in their applications for a shot at this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Due to an overwhelming number of entries from Ram owners, we increased the pool of potential competitors to choose from to 20, while Ford and GM remained at 10 each. This year, the Ford, General Motors, and Ram camps offered up nearly every powertrain available in modern diesel pickups, which made this one of the most diverse groups of DPC hopefuls yet.
DPC X will follow the same format as previous years, as we pit a new group of nine competitors against last year’s victor, Wesley Beech, in his '08 Ford F-250. Your task, which you completed successfully by the April 1st deadline, was to decide which nine trucks would be given the opportunity to compete for the top spot. The owners of the top three Fords, GMs, and Rams (listed below) have been notified and are geared up for Diesel Power magazine's 10th Diesel Power Challenge 2014, set to kick off in a mere three weeks.
