Five Favorite Tuner Utes From Geneva

The Best At Turning Off-Road Into On-Road

Call me a cockeyed pragmatist, but I have never been able to understand why some rich goofballs like to spend tons of money trying to turn an extreme offroad vehicle into a an extreme on-road vehicle, but Geneva always seems to attract all the companies that can help these misguided souls in their mission:

Carlsson CG63
German tuning house Carlsson will boost any G-wagen engine, elevating the 224-hp diesel to 269 hp for example, but the Genevois will insist on the top 641-hp/575-lb-ft V-8 that can supposedly push this brick to 199 mph.

The Schnitzer folks chose to tune the diesel RR Sport, taking the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 from 288 hp/443 lb-ft to 335 hp/531 lb-ft while reducing the per-horsepower CO2 emissions. Suspension mods lower the truck by almost 2 inches and there’s all kinds of lower-body plastic to snag on rocks

When only the most ridiculous pavement-wrinkling levels of power and torque will do, you take your Glenda-wagon to Mansory for a quad-turbo V-12 installation that’s good for 814 hp and 848 lb-ft.

KAHN Defender 90 and 110
A Kahn is a UK based design house (the A is for Afzal , no apparent relationship to renowned architect Albert). Many Kahn packages do preserve the Defender’s capability to go anywhere, but most of the ones on display at the Palexpo were murdered out in flat graphite with widened fenders, fat tires, and prices north of 100K Euros.

The wildest ute in the Palexpo had to be this monster, boasting engine mods to elevate output from 536 hp and 561 lb-ft. to 691 hp (700 PS, hence the name) and 561 lb-ft. If you have to ask the advertised price, you should probably sit down to hear it: 381,900 Euro.
