East Coast Truck Jam 2016 - An Event Tailored Just for Truck Lovers
All Trucks, and an All Fun Weekend!
If you’re like us, you’ve been to dozens, (maybe hundreds!) of car shows over the years. It’s a great way to enjoy a weekend with a group of like-minded friends. Every now and then however, something new appears on the show calendar. The East Coast Truck Jam in Florence, South Carolina was tailored around cool custom trucks and the pickup community turned out in force. The Florence Agricultural Center was the perfect venue with indoor and outdoor display space for the more than 250 vehicles, a fairly strong number for a first-time show. Yes, there was a smattering of car drivers who could not resist the fun, but we have it on good authority that they will be truck buyers soon. No doubt their decision to become converts has to do with all the unique activities like watching big lifted diesels rollin’ coal in the Truck Pull or showing off their high performance engines in the Burnout Competition. The Club Tug-of-War attracted lots of players eager to burn off some lunchtime calories while the Tattoo competition put some intricate artwork on display. Show promoter Rodney Christensen put on a Hydro Demo with his high flying S-10 and the Saturday evening’s entertainment ended with a neon Glow Off competition and a late-night, hotdogs-and-drinks party for all those who stayed. Sunday saw a repeat of Saturday’s fun with the afternoon awards ceremony presenting laser cut steel trophies to class winners along with unique lighted Plexiglas awards to the Best Of’s. Best of Show honors along with Best Lighting went to Brinton Roberts and his beautiful ‘Bud Light Blue’ 1999 Ford F-250, five years in the making. Special thanks to Logan Fulmer and Harry Johnson for their help with this new event along with radio sponsors Rock 94.7 FM and 99.3 FM, The Cat. Club participation went to Southern Dreams.
