Hidden nods to Jeep heritage and history in Jeep Underground FC-150 - EJS 2016 in Moab Day 2
It only looks old, but underneath it’s all-modern Jeep
The 2016 Easter Jeep Safari marks not one, but two special anniversaries. First, it’s the 75th anniversary of Jeep. Second, it’s the 50th Easter Jeep Safari. Put those two together, and only a retrotastic nod to utilitarian off-roading and working-class hero 4x4 convept 4x4 would do. This year, Jeep’s head of design, Mark Allen, and his team knocked another one out of the park with the Jeep FC-150. Although the whole thing looks like a farm-fresh find, only the cab and some of the bed sheetmetal are original 1960 Jeep FC-150. The rest of the underpinnings revolve around a more modern TJ frame equipped with a 4.0L and automatic transmission, Dynatrac Dana 44 and Dana 60 axles, and (of course) a huge mix of retro and reproduction lifestyle nods.
