Lone Star Throwdown 2016
Bursting at the Seams!
Wow, what a year! This year's Lone Star Throwdown literally broke all previous records and expectations, reaching a max capacity of 2,500 rides and nearly 20,000 spectators. Thousands stormed the gates of the Lone Star Expo Center, centrally located in Conroe, Texas, in hopes of viewing their favorite rides. It was the biggest year yet and the LST crew still did an exceptional job keeping things organized and flowing throughout the weekend.
Although previous years have been riddled with inclement weather off and on, people still came from near and far in droves to attend. This year featured perfect weather all weekend long, and the Expo Center was literally bursting at the seams! The grounds were packed gate to gate with high-quality show rides from every genre. You might stumble across fully decked out slammed cover trucks, huge sky-high builds, hot-rods, customs, and more. The diversity is only one of the reasons we love this show so much. LST also has become a destination show that attracts rides and people from all over—West Coast, East Coast, Central and South. It also attracted international love, with people coming out from Canada, Australia, Japan, and more, to take part in what has quickly become the must-attend show of the year.
The crowd benefited from special guest appearances and debuts from the guys over at Gas Monkey Garage, Slam'd.com, American Force, Ekstensive Metalworks, Halls Hot Rods, and PSE Houston. There were also exquisite builds on display, along with huge vendors slingin’ gear at discounted show prices, including huge setups from Kicker Audio, Billet Specialties, KIK, and more.
Yes, there are a few hiccups with growth of this size? Of course, there are. However, the LST crew is already hard at work to solve the space issue and continue the anticipated growth for 2017.
Speaking of 2017: It will be the 25th Anniversary for Negative Camber, along with planned cruises from both coasts, so we’re sure the huge growth and success of LST will continue. This year is sure to blow the top off the Expo Center. Mark your calendars, break in your walking shoes, and start counting down the days (you know we already are).
