On With the Show: SEMA 2014 is Underway in Las Vegas
If you’re not familiar with the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), you may not know that it’s the collective heartbeat of the automotive aftermarket. SEMA membership includes thousands of companies from all corners of the world who engineer performance and appearance parts for cars and trucks, including the diesels we’re all so crazy about. And every November, SEMA throws a quaint little gathering at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Yes, we’re talking about the legendary SEMA Show. And believe us when we tell you, nothing about this deal is either “quaint” or “little.” The SEMA Show is confab that brings together the aftermarket performance industry’s movers and shakers, media, hot new products, and mega-custom vehicles under one roof (well, it’s actually more like a few roofs, as the show fills three separate halls of the convention center), for what amounts to a four-day hardcore celebration of the aftermarket.
For the crew here at Diesel Power, attending SEMA each year is all about being able to get the latest info on new technologies for diesel engines and trucks (and we’re pretty sure there are quite a few here this year). We also get to check out the incredible customized GM, Ford and Ram pickups--and maybe even the occasional car or van--that are on display at various manufacturers’ booths and throughout the grounds surrounding the convention center.
Yep, we’re here in the desert, and we’re ready to rock. Day One of the 2014 SEMA Show has officially begun, and we’ll be here all week on a seek-and-conquer mission to find and report about all of the diesel coolness that’s here. Stay tuned to www.dieselpowermag.com, as well as all of the Diesel Power social media outlets (Twitter: @dieselpowermag; Instagram: dieselpowermag; Facebook: Diesel Power Magazine) for updates on happenings and the things we see as the week goes on!
