Mopar Brings Customized Ram, Durango, ProMaster to SEMA 2016 - #TENSEMA16
Mopar revealed its 2016 SEMA Show concepts today, showing off trucks and SUVs that have been customized by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ parts and accessories arm. Following up on Jeep's announced CJ66 custom, Mopar announced a trio of Ram and Dodge utility vehicles at its booth.
Ram Macho Power WagonFirst is the Ram Macho Power Wagon, a truck that pays homage to the identically named trim level from the 1970s. A custom four-inch lift kit and massive 37-inch tires on beadlock wheels create some added capability for the off-road special, while a Mopar cold-air intake optimizes performance on the otherwise-stock 6.4L Hemi V-8.
In addition to the mechanical changes, the Macho receives a few functional upgrades as well. A concept accessory RamRack slides along the bedrails, providing a tie-down for a variety of cargo. It stows within the cab’s sail panels when not in use, and it looks cool to boot. Adding style is the paintwork, done in a concept shade called Macho Mango. The orange hue shows up on the beadlock rings and dresses up the interior as well.
Dodge Durango ShakerPainted B5 Blue, the Dodge Durango Shaker takes old muscle car styling cues to a whole new genre, giving the Hemi-powered SUV even more styling aggression. A functional shaker hood, matte black accents, satin black 22-inch wheels, and a 3-inch custom lowering kit give the Durango a muscle-wagon vibe. Backing up the aggressive styling is a 6.4L Hemi V-8, fed by the shaker scoop.
Concept Mopar exhaust pipes exit from the middle of the rear bumper, a la Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, and six-piston brake calipers clamp down on large brakes for better control. A custom rear spoiler reportedly adds downforce, while a fuel door donated from the Challenger muscle car gives the Durango a distinctly old-school feeling. The Dodge Viper donates its supportive bucket seats to all three rows of the Durango concept, with B5 Blue stitching adorning the thrones.
Ram ProMaster Pit StopThe Pit Stop looks like a creative way to refuel race fans. Its custom top-hinged awning-door converts the side of the van into a “Mopar Bar,” which features a flip-down bar top. Ram says the ProMaster’s impressive interior width also made it perfect for keg refrigeration, and said kegs are controlled via taps with handles inspired by cue ball, T-handle, pistol grip, and billet shifters.
Big 20-inch wheels, a Mopar wrap, and custom front-end styling set the “BrewMaster” apart from lesser Ram vans, and Katzkin leather adorns the interior. In back, neon signs, LED lighting, and a walk-through provide added versatility and cool-factor for the big van.
We’ll see more of these cool vehicles this week at the 2016 SEMA Show, and you can follow along with our adventures on social media using #TENSEMA16.
