TMI Products New Classic Truck Seats Make A Big Statement At SEMA 2015
The World Debut of Some Cool Truck Buckets
Our friends in the street machine world are familiar with the great looking interior products from TMI Products The Southern California based company manufacturers high-quality performance-oriented seats for early Mustangs, Chevelles, and Camaros in many high-back and low-back styles, as well as universal seats in styles from classic-inspired to radical.
This year, TMI decided to get involved in the classic truck market with seats, door panels, dash pads, headliners, and other products for the most popular Ford F-series Chevy C-series classic trucks. They waited until the 2015 SEMA Show to debut the new product line. And they did it in a big way. There isn’t a single car in the TMI booth at the SEMA Show. All of their seats are on display, but all of the display vehicles are trucks. Not only that, but these trucks are owned and driven by the guys who work for TMI. They know this market, because they’re into this hobby.
The truck seats in TMI’s Pro Classic line have the signature look of many of TMI’s seats in the Sport X and other lines—and feature reclining backs, full metal framework, and sliders and tracks. The difference is that these have been designed specifically for classic truck applications. Larry Ashley, who does marketing and R&D at TMI, pointed out that the truck seats are styled slightly more classically (hence the Pro Classic name). They come in a low back design—26.5 inches from the bottom of the seat to the top of the seat back), with a squared-off top that is not visible through the back window. The Pro Classic back and side bolster size is smaller that other models for easy in and out. The overall look is neither high-tech or retro, but a contemporary interpretation of classic. As you can see, it is a look that looks right in any style of classic truck.
Choices are numerous. In addition to the Pro Classic buckets, there is also a Pro Split Bench. Standard black is a popular color, but TMI also handles custom orders for seat, stitching, and insert colors. TMI also offers consoles designed to match the looks of the seats.
