Severed In The Southwest - Phoenix, Arizona
Arizona's Year-End Shindig
Every year the show season starts to wind down as winter approaches across the country as Custom truck enthusiasts retreat back into their garages to knock out some more unique mods in anticipation of the season starting after the spring thaw. Fortunately for us here on the West Coast, we are blessed with decent weather year-round, but the smog makes up for it so don't hate us too bad. This allows shows like Severed in the Southwest to take place in December, at Castles and Coasters in Phoenix, AZ, and still pull a nice turnout with tons of killer rides, awesome displays, and plenty of vendors on hand to keep the whole family entertained.
Hosted by the Phoenix chapter of Severed Ties, Joe Molina and crew do an excellent job of promoting, organizing, and throwing one of the West Coast's must-hit shows of the year. SSW is a great example of a home-grown event that draws all the major clubs around the local area, but also has some serious pull to attract many out of state attendees, vehicles, and vendors alike. With top-tier rides coming out of the woodwork, including Fester's popular collection of iconic minitrucks, Dino's custom C-10 creations, and some of the West Coast's best fullsize builds, this show is definitely worth the trip from both near and far.
Events such as the lowest limbo, contest giveaways and the raffle drawing quite a crowd, as well as the show specials from some heavy hitting vendors on hand are icing on the cake. Who knew so much fun and badassness could all fit in a one-day show?! As the day came to a close, all were invited to stick around for the infamous afterparty to close out the weekend in style. If you haven't had a chance to check this one off the bucket list, mark your calendars for next year to attend this awesome show! For more information go to www.facebook.com/severedinthesouthwest/.
